Ivey Thornton, MD, trained in Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville after receiving her medical degree at the University of Alabama. She then completed a one year fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard University.
She moved to Cleveland to join her husband in 2011 and had a successful practice at Kaiser Permanente / HealthSpan for 5 years. She then pursued further advance surgical training in cataract and refractive surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute.
She is active in clinical research having been awarded grants from Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmology (CLAO) and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) in the past. She has published in peer reviewed journals of Ophthalmology and presented her work at national and international eye meetings.
Her practice focus is in comprehensive Ophthalmology with a special interest in cataract refractive surgery. She is happily married with three young children.
